Freestone House was officially designated a County Landmark by the Sonoma Board of Supervisors on December 17, 1974, as Historic Landmark No. 2 of the County Landmarks Commission, County of Sonoma, and the property was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United State Department of the Interior.
