Wyatt Earp became Deputy Marshal of Wichita, Kansas in April, 1875. He tamed the lawless town and tried to keep his peacemaking bloodless. In 1878, he became Assistant City Marshal of Dodge City, once known as The Fabulous Babylon. In August of that year, Doc Holliday saved his life as he tried to break up a bar room brawl. He enlisted other lawmen, including his old friend Bat Masterson, to help him lay down the law in Dodge.
