Dr. McKenzie was a surgeon, physician, educator, artist, sculptor, athlete, teacher, writer, and volunteer Scouter. A personal friend of Scouting founder Sir Robert Baden-Powell, he shared Baden-Powell's belief in Scouting for boys and believed that through its Oath and Law it developed youth physically, mentally, and morally into vigorous manhood. This statue was provided to the North Central Region, Boy Scouts of America, through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Starr of Kansas City, Missouri.
