Ryan Mountain, a 5,456-foot peak in Joshua Tree National Park, is a popular summit hike known for its broad desert views and relatively short but demanding climb. The 1.5-mile trail gains about 1,050 feet before reaching a peak with views over Pinto Basin, Lost Horse Valley, Queen Valley, and Pleasant Valley. The mountain is also known for abundant lichen populations. Its name honors J.D. Ryan, a wealthy rancher and early mining operator in the area. Today, it remains a well-known park destination for panoramic scenery and a strenuous ascent.
