Fort Le Boeuf was built by the French in 1752, stood under the British flag from 1759 to 1763, and burned on March 21st, 1869. The lot was later purchased by the Fort Le Boeuf Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists and restored and landscaped in 1932 as a memorial honoring the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of George Washington by the National Society Daughters of the American Colonists.
