Archaeological investigations in 2002 uncovered evidence of a Native American camp at this location. The recovered artifacts and features included charcoal that produced a radiocarbon date indicating a possible Early Woodland Period occupation about 2,200 years ago. Additional scientific investigations can add important information about this site and help determine whether the slight rise in the landscape here is a cultural feature or a natural glacial remnant. This archaeological site, 33-FR-1974, is included in the inventories maintained by the Ohio Historical Preservation Office and is preserved in its natural state.
