The original Red Front Blacksmith Shop stood directly across the street from the mural, whose workers represent many local ranching families. Images in the ovals next to the buildings show scenes from Tehachapi's ranching history, while the outside ovals show blacksmiths working in their shops. All of the images were taken from old photographs, and a few well-known local cattle brands and ranch names are also shown.
