Mather Point is a major scenic overlook on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona, standing at 7,119 feet and located east-northeast of Grand Canyon Village between Yavapai and Yaki points. Named for industrialist and conservationist Stephen Tyng Mather, it offers a broad northward view across Granite Gorge and into Bright Angel Canyon, including landmarks such as Isis Temple, Cheops Pyramid, Zoroaster Temple, Demaray Point, Bradley Point, and Sumner Butte. Its geology is part of the canyon’s upper layered rocks, especially Kaibab Limestone, with visible erosion holes, broken blocks, the Toroweap Formation beneath, and Coconino Sandstone lower down.
