Doheny State Beach was once known as Doheny Beach State Park in 1931. In its early years from 1934 to 1938, much of the work in the park was carried out by the Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC. The CCC enrollees who worked at Doheny lived in camps at San Clemente State Beach and belonged to companies 467, 904, 912, 916, 1945, and 6425.
