The citizens of Westbrook dedicated this memorial to the men of their city who gave the last full measure of devotion for the preservation of freedom in the Vietnam conflict: Sgt. Lester MacDonald in 1966, 1st Lt. Paul L. Stimpson in 1967, Sgt. Raymond E. Leighton in 1966, Sgt. Benedict M. Davan in 1968, S. Sgt. Robert J. Nadeau in 1969, and Col Donald M. Russell in 1967. It declares, "Greater love hath no man than this: That a man lay down his life for his country."
