Nature
Bear Pond is a glacial lake in Hancock County, Maine, near Beddington and close to the Washington County line, Lead Mountain, and State Route 9. Its chief inflow is Bear Brook, which drains the southeastern slopes of Lead Mountain through the Bear Brook Watershed, an experimental forest in Maine. Two U.S.G.S. stream gauges monitor Bear Brook’s East and West branches. Surrounded by forest, the pond drains from its western end into the Little Narraguagus River, while an unpaved access road from Route 9 runs near its eastern end.
