Wapello Land and Water Reserve is a protected nature area in Hanover, Illinois, within the community once called Wapello, named for Chief Wapello of the Meskwaki tribe. The reserve lies between Illinois Route 84 and the Apple River, near the point where that river approaches the Mississippi. Managed by the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation, it occupies a distinct place in the river landscape of northwestern Illinois, defined by its location between a state highway and the lower Apple River.
