Black Hill is a mountain in Morro Bay, California, within Morro Bay State Park and one of the Nine Sisters, a chain of volcanic plugs along the Central Coast. A notable feature on the hill is Fleming's Forest, a stand of Monterey pine planted by park superintendent John Fleming. The grove originated unexpectedly when Fleming received a full tree shipment intended partly for another project and used the surplus on Black Hill. In recent years, many of those trees have died or been declining from pine pitch canker, a fungal disease that also threatens the Monterey pine's remaining native groves in Cambria and on the Monterey Peninsula.
