Oil Region Astronomical Observatory in Venango County, Pennsylvania, was owned and operated by the Oil Region Astronomical Society. It emerged from a local astronomy movement that began in March 1991, when enthusiasts in northwest Pennsylvania formed what became the Venango County Astronomy Club. After securing a lease from Venango County, the group constructed the observatory and opened it to the public in 1993. The facility then served as the society’s home until January 2015, when the lease ended.
