Founded in 1872 by merchant James L. Dean, who was born in 1841, Deanville grew on an arm of the Chisholm Cattle Trail. Its post office was established in 1877. The Houston & Texas Central Railroad extended its line here in 1913. The Sons of Hermnan (O.D.H.S.) Lodge, organized in 1916, sponsors an annual Fourth of July celebration.
