Rutledge Primitive Baptist Church was built circa 1890 on land donated by Thomas Warren Shows and his family. It was a member of the Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Association, which was formed in 1837, and it was one of the first churches built in Crenshaw County. In 2006, the church building was donated to the town of Rutledge by the families of the remaining members.
