Built in 1898-1899, this railroad station was the original eastern terminus of the Chesapeake Beach Railway. The first train arrived in June 1900 from Seat Pleasant and the District of Columbia. From 1900 until 1935, the railway operated daily, bringing people to the resorts of Chesapeake Beach and nearby North Beach, with extra excursion trains during the busy summer months. Two tracks entering the station ended behind this location. From 1900 until 1930, amusements stood on a boardwalk over the water parallel to the shore just south of the station. The boardwalk lasted until 1930, when the park moved onto adjacent land and was called Seaside Park. From 1950 until its closing in 1972, the park was known as Chesapeake Beach Amusement Park. In 1979, Rod 'N Reel Inc. leased the station building to the Calvert County Commissioners, and the Calvert County Historical Society began creating a museum there; restoration started in early 1979 and was completed in 1985.
