The Shaker Meeting House, or Church, was built in 1848 to replace an earlier and much smaller 1791 meeting house. It demonstrates many typical characteristics of Shaker architecture, including double doors, one for men and one for women; a large meeting room with no columns to allow the dancing that was part of their worship; a separate area for visitors; and simplicity of design and detail. The building now houses the offices of the Shaker Heritage Society, a Museum Shop, and exhibits.
