Harold Beck, an inventor and prospector who lived in Randsburg, was one of the original owners of the Rand Desert Museum and was among the first to mass-market Dry Washers. Miners from across the Western States knew his Dry Washers for their efficiency in capturing small gold and for not losing much gold.
