Ted W. Bartlett, a native of North Dakota who moved to Huntington Beach in 1925 and became a local businessman, served the city for a total of twenty years as mayor from 1946 to 1948 and as a city councilman from 1944-48, 1954-58, and 1966-78. Known as the city's "Goodwill Ambassador" for his generous manner and caring attitude, he held leadership positions in many organizations throughout the city, county, and state and gave complete dedication and untiring effort on behalf of others.
