Algonkian Regional Park, located on the Potomac River, spans 838 acres and combines open space with recreation and event facilities, including a golf course, a waterpark, vacation cottages, and a full-service event venue. The park was reportedly used as a site for stills during Prohibition and was originally built as a corporate retreat for PEPCO. Its features include Volcano Island Waterpark, the Woodlands event venue, 12 vacation cottages along the river, and the 18-hole Algonkian Golf Course.
