On July 31, 1832, seven hundred Sac Indians followed this ridge west into Vernon County over this ground, and on August 1, eighteen hundred thirty-two, twelve hundred soldiers did the same. Two human skeletons were found at a spring west of Wilder's Hotel in Rising Sun in 1852.
