History
The Heritage Museum of Northwest Florida in Valparaiso, Florida, founded in 1971, preserves and interprets the region’s material history from its earliest known inhabitants through the pioneer and industrial eras. Its permanent collection includes archaeological and everyday objects such as flint spear points, stone tools, Woodland Period pottery shards, a black iron wash pot, crosscut saws, turpentine cups, a porcelain pitcher, lumber mill tokens, and old school desks. It also explores local fishing history, includes a heritage mural, and hosts the Crestview Train Depot. Through its Heritage Alive monthly hands-on classes, it connects community members with how local pioneers lived and worked.
