A priest and his parishioners greet a patriotic parade in the 1920s. The church was originally built in 1900 for a Baptist congregation, and its rededication in 1914 as St. Stanislaus Kostka reflected changes in the village brought by new emigration from Eastern Europe. Farther up the block, the former St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, built in 1887, is now a private house. A 1942 photograph shows St. Stanislaus before it was redesigned.
