The Big House in Macon, Georgia preserves the former home where members of The Allman Brothers Band, their families, and friends lived together from 1970 to 1973 during the group’s formative years. Near Capricorn Records and H&H Restaurant, it served as both a communal household and a creative center where several of the band’s best-known songs were written, including Blue Sky, Ramblin’ Man, Midnight Rider, and Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More. After the deaths of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, the household dissolved. The property was later restored under the Big House Foundation and opened as a museum in November 2009, preserving the band’s history and memorabilia.
