Panther Creek State Park in Morristown occupies about 1,444 acres on the shore of Cherokee Lake, the reservoir formed by Cherokee Dam on the Holston River. Connected by Tennessee State Route 342 to U.S. Route 11E, it is a major outdoor recreation area centered on the lake and its surrounding terrain. Visitors can paddle, boat, and fish on the water, while land-based activities include biking, birding, horseback riding, disc golf, tennis, swimming, and playground use. Hiking is a leading attraction, with more than 30 miles of trails ranging from easy walks to difficult routes. The park also supports camping with 50 serviced campsites and extensive facilities.
