Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve is a 2,486-acre protected area in northern Virginia, dedicated in 2002 and largely owned and operated by the Virginia Outdoors Foundation as part of its broader Bull Run Mountains Special Project Area. The preserve is important for its natural communities, including several rare in Virginia, and for the quartzite cliffs and boulder fields around High Point Mountain that give it rugged character and scientific value. Most of the land is managed for scientific and educational purposes rather than general recreation. About 800 acres are open Friday through Sunday for low-impact public use, while the privately owned High Point Cliffs section has remained closed since 2015.
