Juniper Level Botanic Gardens
Nature
Juniper Level Botanic Gardens in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a botanical garden and nursery created in 1988 by plantsman Tony Avent and his late wife, Michelle, as an educational, research, and display garden. Spanning more than 28 acres, it is notable for both its plant collections and its environmentally conscious management, including the long-term avoidance of synthetic non-organic fertilizers, on-site runoff capture, and extensive composting. In 2018, Tony and Anita Avent donated the privately owned garden to North Carolina State University while retaining lifetime rights, with plans for it to become a sister institution to the J.C. Raulston Arboretum. The site opens to the public on eight weekends each year and also hosts the Center for Mindfulness and Nonduality.
