Longanbach and Engler Families
History
6
The Longanbach and Engler families were among several families who in the 1830s immigrated from their homes in the German Confederation and crossed the Atlantic Ocean to North America for better opportunities. They became some of the early pioneer farmers in Sandusky County, Ohio, and under the trying circumstances of their time they showed heroism, daily labor, hardship, and loyalty to their God and their families. Their efforts helped improve the land from its original swampy wilderness into the rich heritage seen and experienced today, and many of their descendants continue to live in the area.
