Glenn H. Curtiss Museum
Transportation
In Hammondsport, New York, the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum focuses on the life and work of early aviator Glenn H. Curtiss within the larger story of transportation development. Founded in 1962 by Otto Kohl, it began in a former high school and moved in 1992 to a former winery south of town as its collection expanded. Aircraft form the heart of the museum, with more than 20 on display, including reproductions and original types linked to Curtiss and his era, alongside later aviation examples. Automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, wooden boats, and engines broaden its view of early mechanical culture and make it a major historical institution in Hammondsport.
