The United Order of Friendship of America opened Friendship Clinic under the leadership of Dr. T. R. M. Howard as the second medical facility in Mound Bayou. It was later renamed Sarah Brown Hospital, then renamed Mound Bayou Community Hospital, and the hospital closed in 1983.
