Mary Kate Patterson Davis Hill Kyle, known as a Heroine of the South, worked with Coleman's Scouts and Sam Davis as a spy in the LaVergne-Nolensville-Nashville area. As a teenager, she smuggled vital information and supplies through Union lines. She was buried in the Confederate Circle in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, the first woman so honored.
