The house at 215 South Mechanic Street was built in the Greek Revival style by John C. Skinner around 1847. A Lebanon merchant, Skinner served as Warren County's auditor from 1844 to 1853. In 1895, George W. Stanley bought the house, and that year his close friend Governor and future President William McKinley appointed him as a judge. In 1926, horse trainer J. T. Deardoff bought the home. Early on Christmas morning in 1932, his son-in-law, U.S. Representative Charles F. West, raised the alarm that the Lebanon Opera House was on fire. Deardoff died in 1938. After the death of his wife, Luella, in 1963, their daughter, Anna May Deardoff West, lived there until 1983.
