Built in 1930, this structure was designed to provide access to a pocket beach for the planned Dana Point Inn on the bluff's edge. Its doorway opened into a 165-foot-long tunnel leading to an elevator intended to carry guests 135 feet up to the hotel lobby. The project was abandoned because of the 1929 stock market crash, and remnants of the hotel arches remain above.
