The Brigantine Lighthouse
History
Built in 1926 by The Island Development Company, the Brigantine Lighthouse became an iconic symbol of Brigantine, NJ, not as a working lighthouse but as a monument and tourist attraction used to help sell real estate on the island. Over the years it served as a museum, gift shop, police station, and city jail. By the mid 1990s it had fallen into disrepair, and dedicated volunteers refurbished it in 1995.
