Admiralty Head Light on Whidbey Island near Coupeville, Washington, stands above Admiralty Inlet at Fort Casey State Park, where it helped mark a key entrance to Puget Sound in tandem with Point Wilson Light. The site held two lighthouses: an 1861 wooden keeper’s house with a tower, later moved when Fort Casey was built and demolished in 1928, and the surviving 1903 brick-and-stucco lighthouse designed by Carl Leick. Built to withstand earthquakes and gun concussion, it was deactivated in 1922 but remained a landmark. Restored by Washington State Parks, it gained a reconstructed lantern house in 2012 and remains a defining historic feature of the park.
