A 1911 view of Dock Street shows the trolley tracks of the Union Traction Company of Pottsville. The trolley served Schuylkill Haven from October 10, 1897 until August 24, 1932, when service ended. This section of town was part of the area known as Spring Garden, where many shops lined Dock Street. When the Schuylkill Canal was at its height, Spring Garden was one of the busiest parts of town, serving as the center of the boating industry because the coal landings and docks were located in this ward.
