The site one and one-quarter miles away was that of Immanuel Lutheran Church and cemetery. The church was organized about 1807, was reported in 1811 to the North Carolina Synod, and became a charter member of the Tennessee Synod in 1820. In its early years, services were held in both German and English. The church was disbanded about 1870.
