Burnt Peak is the highest summit in Southern California’s Sierra Pelona Mountains, reaching 5,791 feet in the northwestern part of Los Angeles County within the Angeles National Forest. Set in the Transverse Ranges north of Santa Clarita, west of Lake Hughes, and east of the old Ridge Route, it is one of the defining high points of this lesser-known range. A VOR air navigation beacon on the mountain gives the summit added significance beyond the surrounding backcountry, linking it not only to the protected forest landscape but also to regional aviation infrastructure.
