Brownsville's Flatiron Building, at 69 Market Street in the Brownsville Commercial Historic District, is a historic building and museum that serves as a heritage center devoted to the town's past. Owned and restored by the Brownsville Area Revitalization Corporation, it preserves artifacts from Brownsville's heyday and presents exhibits on the community's coal and coke heritage. The building also contains the Frank L. Melega Art Museum, whose permanent collection features the work of regional painter, sculptor, and commercial artist Frank L. Melega, especially his images of the everyday life of coal miners, along with rotating exhibitions of local contemporary art.
