The original townsite of Mannford began one-quarter mile east on the Creek Headrights of Tom and Hazel Mann. The town took its name from Mann's Ford across the Cimarron River. In 1895, G.M. Evans leased these 90 acres and surrounding land. The A.V. and W.-R.R. (Frisco) arrived in 1902, and the post office was established April 11, 1903. Hall C. Miller bought the 90 acres for a townsite on February 21, 1906. The town was relocated in 1962-63 because of Keystone Dam.
