Fort Beeler was the site of an Indian fort built in 1779 on land owned by George Beeler. In 1782, its defenders repulsed an attack by Mohawk and Shawnee Indians, and those defenders included Martin and Lewis Wetzel, celebrated scouts and Indian fighters.
