In 1767, James Mayo Hoge, while searching for his lost brother who fought in the French-Indian War, instead found his true love, and together they built a home on land he called Hayfield, now Belle Hampton Farm. Ownership of the property has remained within multigenerational family branches since its establishment. Sugar maples planted along the entrance in 2019 honor the seven generations of direct Hoge descendants from James Mayo through Thomas Hunter and the future seven generations of the Hoge family legacy, reflecting a family vision of living intentionally in pursuit of full potential and enriching the ethos “Dat gloria vires” through uncompromised standards of excellence and the core values of family, integrity, knowledge, and perseverance.
