Used as a burial ground since 1860, this two-acre tract was given in 1860 by Jacob W. Tacker for use as a cemetery and school site, and the area was known as the Tacker School and Graveyard Community. The first church on the land, a log building, was erected in 1866 and also served as a school. A second, frame structure was built in 1891 and named Union Church, and at the same time the cemetery was renamed Union. Local people cared for the premises yearly until the Union Cemetery Association was formed in 1900 to maintain the property and buildings. The present brick chapel was built in 1962.
