The Salzburgers, with their faithful pastors Rev. John Martin Bolzius and Rev. Israel Christain Gronau, were banished from their homes in Austria for their faith in the doctrines of Gods Word as taught in the Augsburg confession and settled in Effingham Co. Geo. in 1734. Rev. Herman H. Lembke and Rev Christian Rabenhorst succeeded pastors Bolzius and Gronau, and during their charge the present church edifice was erected.
