History
In 1931, Grace Episcopal Church began moving up Main Street from this location to its present site at the Five Corners. During the height of the Great Depression, legend held that the street was blocked for several days when the moving company went bankrupt. The church had been built in 1868, financed in part with prize money won by village resident Admiral David Farragut for capturing Confederate ships in the Civil War Battle of Mobile Bay.
