Alva R. “Rex” Darst, born in 1895 and died in 1988, was honored in Sidney, Iowa, as the last World War I veteran, and the tribute also honored all veterans. It was donated and erected in 1988 by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7064 of Tabor, Iowa.
