Coast Guard Aviation Monument
Military
2
In honor of the men who established Coast Guard aviation in May of 1925 on Ten Pound Island in Gloucester Harbor, home of the first continuously operating Coast Guard air station, growth in operations and aircraft size forced a move to Salem, Massachusetts, in 1935 and again to Cape Cod in 1970, so that “they who go down to the sea in ships” shall not perish.
