Those remembered include many soldiers from Tennessee units, especially the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th, and 12th Tennessee Cavalry, the 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, and the 3rd Tennessee Infantry, along with named individuals associated with those companies. J. H. Simpson is identified as promoter, Maud Flennike as secretary, and J. H. Copeland and J. W. Saylor with the trust, and the stone was donated by Gray Eagle Marble Co.
