In the late 1930s, Magnolia Ellis became regionally famous for her healing powers, drawing thousands to her Broadway clinic. The town's reputation as an affordable health resort attracted many seeking to cure their ailments. After World War II, increased reliance on medical science changed patterns of health care. Renewed interest in natural holistic approaches to health and wellness has been welcomed by the town, which remains a thriving center of diverse healing arts and practitioners. Although Magnolia denied having special powers, clients often claimed they felt electricity passing through her hands during treatments, and the healing waters and healing arts offer relief to all who suffer.
